Bob Trotta, Charity Founder

The Books4Kids Jamaica charity was originally founded in 2007 by pioneering resort developer, the late Bob Trotta. He was a great believer in Early Childhood Education as a means to increasing opportunities for all.

“Uncle Bob” had a unique ability to connect with children and loved visiting schools to distribute books together with his wife Ragni. He called on many Jamaican role models to help and was often seen handing out books together with celebrities like former Prime Minister P.J. Patterson, Heavy Weight World Champion Lennox Lewis and other important politicians and business people.

The initiative has been continued by his wife Ragni, who has picked up the mantle as the charity’s benefactor. To date, over 108,000 Jamaican Kindergarten children have benefited from Trotta’s legacy of love.

“There is nothing more important you can do for any country than to help to educate its youth.”
